About me

I had put aside my non-academic (sounding) writing in the run up to tenure and this is a good time to pick it back up. A delicious gift to myself. A time to stop, slow down and be mindful. One step at a time. That is Nirvana. I am writing what I feel like with an intention to hone my craft of writing to the general public (instead of only to fellow academics). I will be delighted if they end up touching you in some way.

Of course I am also hoping to get noticed, get a million followers and a publisher’s contract. So please follow me via email, or FB page, or twitter. And please feel free to liberally share my posts among your friends, family and other social network. Link back to my page when you do that. My FB page is called Next Step to Nirvana. Please follow me to get updates.  My twitter handle is nexstep2nirvana.

Hey there. I read on Plato’s Groove’s blog that your language is Tamil. Where are you from, if you don’t mind my asking? Our daughter is from Bangalore.

Just perusing participating blogs in NaPoWriMo and came upon yours. I think we especially enjoy reading others’ works when we can connect with the words in some way. I just read your About and your piece on your Aunt Pim (don’t know if I spelled it correctly). I love the statement you make that your aunt saw being single not as having someone absent. My aunt who passed four years ago at 90, was a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy, served in World War II and worked with Admiral Nimitz. She never married – traveled the world – and was a true helper to others. An amazing woman, she was always quite proud of her independence. And I can truthfully say, her spirit and love of life filled up the space she occupied – her singleness in no way reminded anyone that something was missing!
I also was interested to read that you are from India. In my work I traveled to India three times — Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderbad. I thought India an amazing country, full of contradictions and beauty.
Wonderful blog. Hope you will peruse mine — read my About and stop by several poems. Almost 40 years ago I often told my children (when they were 2 and 3 and 4) “Use your words. And now here I am, all these years later, followng the moniker myself!

  7. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I loved reading about your aunt. They are giants! I think you captured India well, full of contradictions but fascinating. I grew up in Chennai! I see that you retired as Dean of MBA programs. I work in a business school as well. I am very much looking forward to reading your stuff.
